{"id":34,"date":"2010-07-05T09:29:15","date_gmt":"2010-07-05T14:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.systemarchive.com\/2010\/07\/05\/my-ideal-girlfriend\/"},"modified":"2010-07-05T09:29:15","modified_gmt":"2010-07-05T14:29:15","slug":"my-ideal-girlfriend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/05\/my-ideal-girlfriend\/","title":{"rendered":"Dating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t blogged about anything in over a year.\u00a0 Time is running away from me.\u00a0 Let me try talking about something potentially controversial.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So I want to consider a certain subject that most people are familiar with.<\/p>\n<p>DivorceRate.org quotes someone who says that the divorce rate in first marriages is 50%, second marriages is 67%, and third marriages is 74%.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationmaster.com\/graph\/peo_div_rat-people-divorce-rate\" title=\"Divorce Rate Chart\" target=\"_blank\">NationMaster.com <\/a>has a chart that claims to show the U.S. has the highest divorce rate among the major countries in the world, although <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Divorce_demography\" title=\"Divorce Demography @ Wikipedia\">Wikipedia<\/a> seems to indicate there are a couple countries with higher divorce rate than the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>To me, this would seem to indicate that the method of courtship in the U.S, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dating\" title=\"Dating\">dating<\/a>, might not be the best method for forming intimate relationships.\u00a0 For years now, the news has told plenty of examples of dating gone wrong.\u00a0 Wikipedia even has an article called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dating_abuse\" title=\"Dating Abuse\">Dating abuse<\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0 And the divorce rate shows that even when dating goes well, and people get married, these people find out later that they made a mistake.\u00a0 If the couple stayed together long enough to have kids, then I would think the divorce would have a really bad effect on them.<\/p>\n<p>So maybe dating isn&#8217;t working and it&#8217;s time to try a different method for forming intimate relationships?\u00a0 At least something that is less likely to result in dating abuse or divorce.\u00a0 I guess that&#8217;s the tough thing.\u00a0 How to get the right two people together to spend the rest of their lives together.\u00a0 And avoid the wrong people getting together.\u00a0 Otherwise, it would seem that the only people that win are the divorce lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>Even if we don&#8217;t get rid of dating, maybe some changes need to be made.\u00a0 Children are exposed to dating earlier and earlier.\u00a0 Even elementary schools are holding dance events.\u00a0 Perhaps it&#8217;s time to eliminate such events until the college level?\u00a0 Allow children to learn to form relationships without being clouded by the pressure to have an intimate relationship.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve heard the news say that research shows people don&#8217;t mature until age 26.\u00a0 So perhaps raise the minimum age for marriage to at least 20 or 22, and maybe even set a minimum age for dating?\u00a0 What if couples are required to get couples therapy before they get their marriage license?<\/p>\n<p>In any case, isn&#8217;t it worth it to make sure that the right people get together?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t blogged about anything in over a year.\u00a0 Time is running away from me.\u00a0 Let me try talking about something potentially controversial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-34","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-editorial"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=34"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/34\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=34"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=34"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/barnetthsu.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=34"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
