Star Trek Special Event; Microsoft writes standards?

This week, CBS has arranged for special showings of an episode of the original Star Trek at movie theaters in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia to try to convince people to buy the new DVD sets with the remastered version of the original Star Trek TV series. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s HD Photo format is now a standard, and the OOXML format in Office 2007 may become one too.

Transformers on DVD – Oct. 16, 2007

Ok, so yes, I know. My web site is getting stale, even the ads on the site are probably stale. Still hoping to find some time to update it. What is big news though is that the 2007 “Transformers” movie is about to go on sale on DVD. Yes, the one that was supposed to be in theaters starting July 4, 2007 but the hype was so good they moved up the date to July 2.

laptop battery recalls; movies score big

I discuss laptop battery recalls as well as the large amount of money made in the first week of release for the movies “Transformers” and “Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix.” I saw “Transformers” on July 4, 2007.

The Sony laptop battery recall saga continues. CNET reports that Toshiba has recalled more batteries made by Sony in late 2005. Click here for CNET’s article.

In the last two weeks two movies have earned lots of lots of money at the box office. Both “Transformers” and “Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix” earned about $70 million or so their first week and broke various box office records. I’ve seen “Transformers” and I think it’s worth seeing. It’s very good. The day I saw it at the theater I was at, there was at least one family clapping their hands at the end of the movie. People I’ve talked to also agree that it’s very good.
